What’s the Difference between Prison, Detention Center and Reeducation Camp?

This article uses satellite imagery of each to explain the differences. Prisons in Xinjiang are usually better designed than reeducation camps and have higher security levels. Re-education camps usually have lower security infrastructure, less sophisticated designs, and their sizes are usually smaller.
